Knowledge Village Kochi (KVK) is a private charitable establishment under Amal Charitable Trust (ACT) founded by some like-minded social activists including Professors and Educationalists from Ernakulam District, who have been active in the field of education and charity since 1987. Our view is to serve the nation in general and the socially and economically challenged in particular by providing the right choice of education based upon faith and value systems.
To realize this noble mission, we wish to establish and develop multi-disciplinary education centres from Pre-School to an Academy of Professional courses and Post-graduate studies including advanced research. Our endeavour is to develop KVK into a centre of excellence that can provide quality education meeting international educational standards.
As an obligation towards the community, we have taken up the onus to groom the young generation with value based education. So a higher secondary school is seen as the initial step of Phase – 1 of the project. The school starting Pre-School level is aimed to be a model institution.
The institution follows Montessori system for the Preschool level (Levels 1& 2) and switches over to CBSE co-educational curriculum from class 1 onwards.
Other courses in Engineering, Medicine, Nursing, Management etc. are proposed to be implemented in a phased manner as per the master plan.. Joint venture courses in collaboration with foreign universities are also proposed.
The focus of this project is to provide career guidance and education under one roof to those in the community.
History
In the late 1980s, a few like-minded social activists from Ernakulam district, based in the State of Qatar pooled their resources and started some simple social activities like education awards to best students in the district, scholarships to students of good promise who were in need of financial support etc. It is this Association which eventually transformed into Amal Charitable Trust (ACT). The guiding spirit behind the noble
activities was late Dr. Mohiuddin Alwaye, ex-president of our socio-cultural association and founder of Azhar Al-Uloom, Aluva.
